Age Range: 11-14 Schedule: Starts Jan 4, 2022 Tuesdays Learning Goals: Students will learn about the people and events that shaped history and understand how America came to be. Homework: Homework may include: -research opportunities -discussion questions -one paragraph essays -graphic organizers -map analysis Estimated time outside of class: 1-2.5 hours per week Assessment: Learner will be assessed by narrative feedback. Letter grades can be issued upon request. Learner Supply List: Basic school supplies and a book or two easily found at the library or another source. You'll also need a printer to print out maps and graphic organizers, etc. Course Description: Each week we will read a passage, watch a short video, or examine a timeline or historic photos that profile a person or event in US History. We’ll discuss the topic and complete an in class activity. Second semester topic examples: America Faces New Challenges, Reconstruction of the South, The Transcontinental Railroad, Theodore Roosevelt Becomes President, The Stock Market Crashes, The Vietnam War, President Ronald Reagan and more!
