Class Description

Age Range: 10-13 Schedule: Monday, Wednesday availability Learning Goals: Students will sharpen their fundamental math skills, as well as learn to apply the procedures independently Homework: Suggested homework will be given to ensure the student can grasp the concept and independently solve numeric procedures while building confidence. Estimated time outside of class: 30-60min per week Assessment: There will be in-class quizzes and a test after each section. Also, the teacher recommends a math skills speed test on Fridays as homework. The teacher also asks that students submit these scores to the teacher too. Learner Supply List: Notebook/folder, paper, and writing utensils. A printer will be helpful to print out assignments but not necessary. Course Description: The teacher will use the "I do, we do, you do" teaching strategy. The teacher will start each lesson with a homework review and questions. Then the teacher will present a short lesson with "fast facts" that the students can easily remember. The teacher will give several examples slowly and clearly. We will then practice the new concepts until the students feel confident. Next Teacher will have them practice problems on their own. Repetition is important to build confidence and reduce errors and any apprehensions. 15-20 homework problems will
