Class Description

Age Range: Middle School Schedule: Tuesdays for 12 weeks Learning Goals: Students will learn about the people and events that shaped history and understand how America came to be. This semester class is a great addition to your US History curriculum. Homework: Homework will consist of reading, writing, light research and watching videos. Estimated time outside of class: 1-2.5 hours Assessment: Students will be issued progress reports mid semester and at the end of the semester. Learners will be assessed by narrative feedback based on class participation and any homework assigned. Learner Supply List: Basic school supplies. Course Description: We will read passages, watch short videos, analyze maps and primary/secondary sources and discuss important people and events in US History. Students will also keep a timeline of events covered in class. Some first semester topics may include: Captain John Smith, Sam Adams, The Declaration of Independence, Eli Whitney, The Louisiana Purchase, The Oregon Territory, The California Gold Rush...and more!
